Our back-to-school raffle is over, and the basket has a home.
The whole team came out for the handoff at our Houston office — and yes, the basket was almost as big as the winner. She carried it out herself anyway.
What was in the basket
Everything a kid needs for the first weeks of the school year: notebooks, folders, pens, markers, colored pencils, a pencil case, and a few extras tucked in around the edges. No dental homework in there — just school supplies.
Why we run it
The weeks before school starts are our busiest stretch of the year. It's when most Houston families finally book the check-up and cleaning they've been meaning to get to since June. A raffle is a small way to make that visit something a kid looks forward to instead of something to get through.
It also matches what we tell parents every August: get the dental visit done early. A small cavity caught in September is a short appointment. The same cavity found in December, after it's had three months to grow, usually isn't.
